Spoken Language lessons are in the Prepared Environment from the day the young child begins his journey. When the child first enters the environment, he is developing his personality and will need communication in order to do this.
Language provides the tools for comunication. When the child acquires language, he is able to read and write. With these tools, the child can explore his cultural heritage and gain an appreciation of the natural order of the physical world around him.

The first experiences in communication involve learning the different sounds that are used to make up words.
During the sensitive period for langauge, the child is taught the sounds of the letters by using a three period lesson. With the sounds, we are giving the child the keys he needs to be successful in reading. We can only give the child the keys to unlock this door.
Language has many indirect lessons that lead the child to be able to write and to read. In the lesson shown below, metal insets are used to provide indirect preparation for writing by developing the hand strength needed for writing.

Language is divided into the following categories:
Reading consists of the mechanics of reading, reading classification and the function of words. With the function of words the child learns the concepts of the article, adjective, noun, conjunction, preposition adverb etc.
